Decarbonisation solutions company ReNew has secured a $100 million financing facility from Dutch entrepreneurial development bank FMO, marking the European lender’s largest single-ticket investment in India’s energy sector to date.
The 10-year debt facility has been extended to ReNew Solar Power Private Limited under the Voluntary Retention Route (VRR), according to a company release issued on Tuesday. The rupee-denominated proceeds will be deployed directly to fund renewable energy projects currently under construction across the ReNew Group.
In addition to setting an investment record for FMO in the Indian energy landscape, the transaction is the Dutch institution’s largest 2X-aligned corporate financing in Asia. The facility qualifies under the 2X Challenge, a global initiative directed at promoting women’s economic participation and empowerment through targeted investment.
The 10-year tenor aligns with the extended operational lifespan of clean energy assets, helping the company secure stable, long-term capital while diversifying its funding pool across global and domestic credit markets.
Kailash Vaswani, Chief Financial Officer at ReNew, said, “This financing is a strong endorsement of ReNew’s scale, execution capabilities and long-term growth strategy, and reflects the confidence of leading global institutions in India’s clean energy opportunity.”
“The 10-year facility gives us access to stable, long-term capital at a critical stage of our portfolio build-out, while further diversifying our funding sources across international and domestic markets,” Vaswani said.
“As FMO’s largest investment in India’s energy sector, this transaction demonstrates our commitment to supporting India’s energy transition through impactful, large-scale financing solutions,” said Marnix Monsfort, Director & Head – Energy at FMO.
The Nasdaq-listed green energy firm reported a gross clean energy portfolio of 20.5 GW as of August 18, 2026, which includes 1.7 GW (6.2 GWh) of battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Beyond electricity generation and storage, the company holds manufacturing capacities of 6.4 GW in solar modules and 2.5 GW in solar cells, with another 4 GW of solar cell manufacturing currently under expansion and slated to become operational by December 2026.
